More newspapers are sold per capita in the UK than in any other European country. Newspapers are owned mostly by large media corporations, such as News International and, while free from censorship, tend to express right-of-center political views. The arrival of satellite TV has led to plans for a deregulated market and increased competition for the highly protected British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). The BBC's "World Service" remains an influential international news source.
